Re-Homing Your Pet

Never Abandon Your Pet!

Abandoning an animal is not only cruel but also illegal. If caught you can be charged with cruelty. WE HELP PROVIDE OPTIONS.

Unfortunately, the Revelstoke Humane Society is not able to take in surrenders. Our agreement with the City only allows us to care for neglected or abandoned pets brought in by Animal Control. We're always here to help and support you through this process.

Helpful Suggestions

If you must re-home your pet, here are a couple of things you can do:

  • Post a picture and description on the Stoke List. Make sure your repost every few days (absolutely necessary as it gets quickly buried under new ads).
  • As soon as you know your pet needs re-homing, email your photo, description, and contact info to revelstokehumanesociety@gmail.com for us to post on our website and Facebook page.
  • Print posters and post them on bulletin boards around town.
  • Having your cat up-to-date with vaccinations and if possible, spayed or neutered will greatly facilitate new ownership (it's only fair for both animal and new owners).

Microchip Registration Update

Microchips have little value without registration. Registering new owner information for your pet's microchip with the B.C. Pet Registry will ensure the pet's microchip is connected to their contact information. In the case they are ever lost, veterinarians or shelters will be able to identify the pet and contact them right away.
