Microchipping Your Pet

Built-In Protection

A microchip is a form of permanent ID that identifies your pet should they become lost. A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and provides your pet with lifetime protection. Each microchip has a unique ID number assigned only to your pet.

Once recorded in the B.C. Pet Registry, your pet’s microchip can be scanned by participating veterinarians and animal shelters anywhere in the province to verify their identity and guardian.

Registration is Key

Microchips have little value without registration. Registering your pet's microchip with the B.C. Pet Registry will ensure the pet's microchip is connected to your contact information. In the case they are ever lost, veterinarians or shelters will be able to identify your pet and contact you right away.

One Year Included with Adopted Pets

RDHS includes a year subscription with each animal adopted from the shelter. $33 can be paid directly to BC Pet Registry after adoption for a lifetime subscription.
