About this policy

The Revelstoke & District Humane Society (RDHS) is a volunteer-run charity in Revelstoke, British Columbia. This page explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and how to contact us about it. We aim to handle personal information in line with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect and why

We collect only the personal information we need to respond to you and to provide our services:

• Your contact details (name, phone, email, address) so we can reply to you.
• Applications for adoption, spay and neuter assistance, fostering or volunteering, so we can decide and follow up.
• Lost and found reports and photos, to help reunite pets with their families.
• Photos and updates you send us, such as an adoption update.

We do not collect payment card details on this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. By contacting us or sending us information, you agree to us using it for these purposes. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us.

Who sees it

We do not sell or trade personal information. It is seen only by the RDHS volunteers who need it, and by partners when needed to help you, such as a veterinary clinic for spay and neuter assistance or City of Revelstoke Animal Control for a lost or stray dog. We may also share it if the law requires.

We post a person's photos, story or phone number (for example on a lost pet notice or an adoption update) only with their permission. You can ask us at any time to change or remove it.

Website, storage and security

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our website host and email provider may store information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible under local laws. Our hosting provider may also keep basic technical data such as IP addresses. Links to Facebook, Instagram and other sites lead to places with their own privacy policies.

We keep information only as long as we need it for the reasons above or as the law requires, and then delete it. We try to limit who can see it to the volunteers who need it. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so please do not email sensitive details unless we ask for them.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. Contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm who you are first. We will reply as soon as we reasonably can, and within the time the law requires.
